Semiconductor Characterization Lab to come up in Odisha capital

A Bangalore-based IT company on Friday signed an MoU with Odisha government to set up a Semiconductor Characterization Lab here.

Tessolve Semiconductor Private Ltd would establish the laboratory in six months, an official said.

The agreement was signed between the STPI (Software Technology Park of India), Director, Bhubaneswar branch Manas Panda and Tessolve’s President V Veerappan in the presence of IT Minister Pranab Prakash Das and Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena.

International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) on the outskirts of the city will provide infrastructure facilities and other necessary requirements for setting up of the unit.

The STPI and Odisha government would bear Rs 7 crore of Rs 7.98 crore required for the project on 50:50 proportions. Besides, Tessolve would maintain and operate the laboratory.

The STPI, Bhubaneswar would procure the equipment required for the laboratory.

“This is second such laboratory in India after Bangalore. We aim to make it a leading laboratory in the country,” IT Minister Pranab Prakash Das said.

The proposed laboratory will have software and hardware incubation centres, data centre for the use of IT industries.

In addition to this, training, R&D facilities for degree and diploma engineering students will be provided at the centre.
