Bhubaneswar: Ashish Kumar Singh, the 2004 Batch IPS officer, was transferred today and was posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Home Department, a notification issued in this regard mentioned.

Before this order, the senior IPS was working as the IG of Police (CM Security). He was transferred with immediate effect, the Home Department notification said.

It is pertinent to mention, Ashish Singh was previously on medical leave since May 4, and was insisted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to present himself for a detailed examination by a special medical board duly constituted by the Director of AIIMS in Bhubaneswar, not later than May 30.

Allegedly, the IPS had been influencing election machinery in Odisha in an undue manner.

On June 27, the Department sought information from Odisha DGP regarding the leave availed by Ashish Singh. The next day, the DGP clarified that IPS officer Singh had returned to duty on June 3.
