New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The separated conjoined twins Jaga and Kalia undergoing treatment at AIIMS in New Delhi are not likely to return to Odisha soon.

A special team of doctors from Odisha will leave for Delhi on July 20 to review health condition of Jaga and Kalia before they get discharged from AIIMS. Later, the duo along with their parents will stay at Odisha Niwas for temporary period, source said.

After health assessment of Jaga and Kalia and consulting with the AIIMS doctors to put the duo under proper medical care, the AIIMS authorities will fix the date for their discharge from the hospital.

Later being discharges from the hospital, the twin brothers and their parents will be accommodated at Odisha Niwas where they can avail nursing care till complete recovery, he added.

Sources said that Jaga and Kalia are improving slowly and they are enjoying each other’s company.

Notably, the craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors after a 21-hour-long surgery in October last year. The historic surgery had created a new chapter in Indian medical science.
