Servitors stage dharna demanding reopening of Odisha’s Srimandir

Puri: Demanding reopening of Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri for devotees, senior servitor Damodar Mahasuar and his associates today staged a dharna in front of the temple at Singhadwara.

Mahasuar questioned the decision of the state government to keep the temple closed even as the Central Government has permitted the reopening of temples across the country.

He suggested that devotees should be allowed to visit the temple with adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.

The state government had decided for closure of Srimandir in March this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The temple has remained closed since then.

Only servitors are being allowed to enter the temple for performing rituals of the deities.
