Sesa Sterlite celebrates International Women’s Day in Odisha’s Lanjigarh

Lanjigarh, March 8:

Sesa Sterlite under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) came forward to celebrate International women’s day at Lanjigarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district today.

WOMENS DAY AT LANJIGARH Srimati Majhi, chairperson of Kalahandi Zillaparishad inaugurated the function in the presence of other dignitaries such as SwarnalataMohanty, Principal of Kalahandi Anganwadi training center, Rojalin Bhuyan,  Secretary of  Mahashakti Foundation, Sweta Upadhayay, Manager CSR of Sesa Sterlite.

“Sesa Sterlite has been giving priority on women empowerment and the area can be developed when a woman can be an entrepreneur. To enhance the livelihood and the development of the region we have been providing the technical supports and partnering with DIC, Kalahandi for a sustainable development,” said KK Dave, COO (SSL).

“Sesa Sterlite has taken a good initiative towards linkage with DIC, Kalahandi and as a result lots of entrepreneur can come out form the region,” said Chairperson Majhi.

Mahashakti Foundation organized an awareness rally on the occasion to highlight important issues such as  requirement of education to girl child, respect to women and stop killing girl child.

“VEDANTA SAKHI PROGRAM”, which is for women empowerment was also launched by the chief guest and a mobile health unit van branded as ‘Sakhi’ was also dedicated to nearby villages for the treatment of pregnant women & lactating women.

Sesa Sterlite has also started a ‘Women Empowerment Programme’ for up-scaling of SHG movement through women SHG in partnership with Mahashakti Foundation, a reputed non-profit organization in KBK region with expertise in livelihood and SHG.

Around 200 women and the members of Vedanta Foundation participated in various cultural programs organized by SSL and SHG products from Various SHG groups were also displayed in the program place and a health camp was also being organized in association NKBT.

Among others, Amit Joshi, Head HRD, Anil Gupta, Head Commercial, Ranjan Sharma, Head of CSR, Jugal Patniak, COO of Mahashakti Foundation and Balakrushna Rath, Odisha Head of Vedanta Foundation were present.
