Seven critical as car driven by drunk youth hits auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: As many as seven persons, including two babies, sustained critical injuries as an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a car driven by a drunk youth at Ringbandha on Cantonment Road in Odisha’s Cuttack city, late last night.

The victims were rescued by locals and admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital here for treatment. Both the vehicles were severely damaged under the impact of the collision.

According to reports, Prateek Parida, son of a senior police official and a resident of Kalyan Nagar in the city, was driving the car inside which his two friends were present. The mishap took place as the speeding car hit the three-wheeler from rear.

Tension gripped the spot after the accident as locals found Parida in an inebriated state. Police have seized the two vehicles, registered a case in this connection and arrested the driver of the car.
