Seven places of Odisha record above 40 degrees, Sonepur hottest

Bhubaneswar: A total of seven places of Odisha today recorded day temperature at 40 degrees or above. Out of these Sonepur was the hottest town with the maximum temperature at 40.8 degrees.

Sonepur was followed by Bolangir at 40.5 degrees. Titlagarh and Malkangiri recorded at 40.2 degrees each. Angul and Talcher were at 40.1 degrees while Boudh recorded day temperature at 40 degrees.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperature at 39.2 degrees and 39.6 degrees, respectively.

The IMD further said no large change in day temperature during next four to five days in many parts of Odisha. However, maximum temperature is likely to be 40°C and above in some places in interior parts of the State..

The IMD also forecast thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Khordha districts till 8.30 AM on March 17.

In next 24 hours, partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to be experienced in Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 38 degrees and 25 degrees, respectively, the IMD added.
