Severe water crisis stares at residents of Dhirukuti basti in Odisha capital

The 2000 residents of  Dhirukuti basti in Mancheshwar area of Odisha capital are facing severe water crisis.

The slum dwellers are fully dependent on two wells, while the PWD water supply is limited to half-an-hour in the morning and evening.

The slum in BMC ward-12 has two tube wells which pump out muddy water.

The slum dwellers are forced to use two wells for all their daily rituals like bathing and drinking water. Sadly one of the wells is broken, while the other is slowly silting filling up with mud.

With the rising temperature and jaundice spreading in Cuttack the slum dwellers are a worried lot today.
