Government Railway police(GRP), Rourkela recovered the head of an infant from Gopabandhu Palli area of Odisha’s steel city of Rourkela on Wednesday morning.
After receiving information from some locals of Gopabandhu Palli area of Filter basti on Wednesday morning that dogs were eating away the severed head of a baby, a team from Rourkela GRP went to the spot and recovered the head of the baby.
The team searched for the other limbs of the infant, but could not trace them in the vicinity. GRP officials enquired about the head in the nearby area, but did not get information that would help identify the infant.
“After recovering the head of a baby, we have sent it for post mortem. We have registered an unnatural death case and are now investigating into it,” said M Hansda, IIC, GRP, Rourkela.
Looking at the head of the baby, GRP suspects that the child might be just 3-4 days old.
