Sex biz in beauty parlours, 3 arrested, 12 detained

Three persons were arrested and twelve including five women detained for questioning as the commissionerate police raided two beauty parlours operating in the city in  as part of a planned crackdown on the ‘flourishing flesh trade’ in the city, police sources said.

According to sources, the police conducted raids on two beauty parlours located in Laxmisagar and Kharavel Nagar simultaneously on Friday.

The Kharavel Nagar police arrested the owner and a customer of the Sky Beauty Parlour at Amber Lane near the Master Canteen,  square, they detained two girls engaged in  flesh trade during the raid.

Similarly, Laxmisagar police arrested a customer and detained 10 persons including two girls from the Nightingale Beauty Parlour in the Laxmisagar area.

Recently, a Bangladeshi girl was rescued by a social activist from a beauty parlour near the Ravi Talkies square here. She was duped into joining the flesh trade by her country cousin, Raju who promised her a good job in the local embroidery business .

Only recently, the commissionerate police had arrested the kingpin of a sex racket Reena Behera from Nayapalli area . She was arrested on the basis of information provided by a girl rescued from her clutches by activists belonging to the State Progressive Women’s Forum.
