Sex racket busted in Odisha capital; kingpin among three arrested

Twin City Commissionerate of Police today busted a sex racket running in Odisha capital with arrest of three persons including the kingpin.

A team comprising of personnel of Quick Action Team (QAT) and Lingaraj police station conducted a surprise raid at a house near Gada Mahavir Road under Lingaraj police station area following a tip-off.

While police rescued three girls, three accused were arrested with seizure of incriminating articles along with one motorcycle, three mobile phones and Rs 2000 from the spot.

Police arrested the kingpin identified as Sunil Sabat alias Bapi of Bada Bazar area in Berhampur and two others – Sunil Kumar Sahoo of Badakera under Bantala panchayat in Angul district and Sanjib Mahanty of GGP Colony under Mancheswar police limits in Bhubaneswar.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the girls were used for immoral trafficking.

A case has been registered under section 3, 4, 5, and 7 of ITP Act with the Lingaraj police station and further probe is on.
