Bhubaneswar, July 25:
Sex racketeers have found innovative ways to hoodwink police but not for long. Commissionerate Police have busted a sex racket running in a car in Odisha capital, police said today.
According to sources, Nayapally police have busted a sex racket operating in a moving car which was circuiting in CRPF square area in the city.
Police rescued four sex workers and arrested two persons including the kingpin of the racket.
“We have rescued four women from the car. They have been sent to a short stay home,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.
Sources revealed that the kingpin— a woman hailing from Salia Sahi— along with a youth were detained at the Nayapally police station last night for further interrogation.
“The four women were sent to Capital Hospital for medical examination. They will be sent to short stay home on Monday,” Inspector Suryamani Pradhan had said yesterday.
Two months ago, police had rescued these four young women and the woman kingpin from a guest house under Nayapally police limits. They had stopped their business for a few days. However, they were again active in their trade in the last one week or so using a car, police sources said.
Modus Operandi
The sex workers used to contact their clients over mobile phones and call them to a particular place after the deal was struck. From there, they pick their customer in a car and offer service to them. Wary of raids on hotels, guest houses, massage parlours, beauty salons etc, they found a safe hideout in running cars.
On Sunday night, their luck went bust after PCR van spotted a stationary vehicle which was shaking intermittently near CRPF Square at around 9.30 pm. Apprehending trouble, the driver of the car sped the car towards Fire Station Square. The police van followed them and intercepted the suspicious car. While frisking the vehicle, police found two girls in the front seat and two girls and a man on the rear in a compromising position. Four mobile phones, a laptop, condoms, a car among others have been seized.
Of the four women, two reside in Salia Sahi and two are from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
