Sexual assault prime motive of Nayagarh minor girl murder: SIT

Nayagarh: In ongoing probe into murder of a minor girl in Nayagarh district, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief Arun Bothra revealed that the sexual assault was the prime cause of the sensational killing.

“The sexual assault was the prime motive of murder of the minor girl,” Bothra told media today after the SIT arrested the key accused yesterday.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the SIT has enough evidence against the accused and the investigation is underway.

The IPS officer said that the SIT will submit its report before the court.

When asked about the allegation of offering money amounting to Rs 5 lakh to the accused, he rubbished the charges.

“Attempts have been made to malign my image,” Bothra replied.

He assured to brief the media shortly in connection with the murder case.

Meanwhile, the key accused Saroj Sethy, who was apprehended by the SIT on Sunday, will be produced before the POCSO court in Nayagarh district today.

Earlier in the day, the SIT had taken the accused to his village at Jadupur to recreate the murder scene as part of investigation.
