Police today arrested Biswanath Barik, librarian of Delhi Public School (DPS) Damanjodi in Odisha’s Koraput district in connection with sexual harassment allegation levelled against seven teachers by some girl students.

It may be noted here that two separate complaints were lodged with the Damanjodi police on July 23 against seven teachers of the school charging them of sexually harassing some girl students.

The complaints were lodged by the school’s principal and the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Koraput separately.

However, yesterday students of the school had boycotted classes and staged a dharna claiming that the allegations levelled against the teachers were not true.

Students claimed it to be the handiwork of some individuals to defame their school and had demanded stringent action against them.

The students had demanded the immediate transfer of the school’s principal.

Students had, however, withdrawn their agitation following discussions with the local Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and Nalco officials.
