“Based on the allegations of the girl student, the college has terminated him from the service,” Principal Dr Krutibas Sahu said.

MPC (Autonomous) College authorities terminated Sourav Mishra – guest faculty in Computer Science department.

According to reports, Mishra allegedly made sexual advances and showed indecent behavior towards the student. He also pressurized her to take private tuition from him and threatened her to fail her in practical examination if she did not concede to his demands. Following this, the girl filed a written complaint with the principal of the college seeking stringent action against him.

Besides, several other students also leveled similar allegations against Mishra.

Notably, the complainant is a second year student of Plus III (Commerce) and Computer Science as a subject has been made compulsory irrespective of streams.

Mishra was hired as a guest lecturer in the department providing the self-financing course.

It may be mentioned here that Youth Congress activists had yesterday staged a protest demanding action against the lecturer. The protesters had given 24-hour ultimatum to the college failing which they had threatened to hit the streets.

Sources said, the activists are likely to file an FIR with the local police station tomorrow.
