Shabdaranga Natak Mahotsav to kick off in Odisha capital on May 11; know details about timing, venue & ticket price

Bhubaneswar: The three-day Shabdaranga Natak Mahotsav (drama festival) is all set to kick off at Rabindra Mandap in the capital city here on May 11 (Thursday).

Artistes of different theatre groups will stage three dramas—Asadhare Dine, Abu and Ama Ghara Naksa—during the D N Homes sponsored festival, sources said.

The drama show will begin at 7 pm on each day of the festival. The online tickets for the drama shows are available at Book My Show. Besides, people can collect their tickets at Rabindra Mandap, said the organizers.

The price of the ticket for each drama show has been fixed at Rs 200. In a combo offer, one can get tickets for the three drama shows by paying only Rs 400, they added.

Drama ‘Asadhare Dine’, directed by Abhinna Routray, is based upon Hindi play ‘Asadh ka Ekk Din’ of noted playwright Mohan Rakesh. Artistes of Jivanrekha Natyasanstha including Kirti Mohanty, Dipanwita Das Mahapatra, Rohan Yadav and Sheetal Patnaik will stage the play on May 11.

Play ‘Abu’, directed by Subodh Patnaik, is based upon short story ‘Abu Purusa’ of noted Odia writer Manoj Das. Artistes of Natya Chetana theatre group including Sujata, Hara Patnaik, Sanjeet, Rituparna and Bunty will stage the play on the second evening of the festival on May 12.

Odia play ‘Ama Ghara Naksa’, written by eminent writer Gourahari Das, will be staged on the concluding day of the festival on May 13. Artistes Kishore Khanduala, Omkar Acharya, Jasmin Parida, Abakash Mishra and Dhara Shrabani Mahapatra of Shabdaranga theatre group are in the leading roles of the play Ama Ghara Naksa, directed by Darpa Narayan Sethi.
