Puri: A servitor of Lord Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri  was arrested today for allegedly molesting a girl inside the premises of 11th century shrine, police said.

The shameful incident took place when the girl, a resident of Berhampur, went inside the temple for darshan along her family members.

Santosh Kar, a servitor of the temple, was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim, who alleged that he was trying to touch her inappropriately.

The girl caught hold of the servitor's hand and raised an alarm.

“Santosh Kar, a servitor, has been arrested for trying to touch the girl inappropriately,” said Singhadwara Police Station Inspector-In-charge Gokula Ranjan Das.
