Shame! Teacher sexually exploits minor in Odisha; detained

Angry locals’ today gheraoed Kakatpur police station in Odisha’s Puri district demanding the arrest of a school teacher who is accused of sexually exploiting a seven-year-old for three years.

Tension ran high in Kakatpur area after news spread that one Prashant Kumar Mistri, a teacher of Srichandanpur Gouranga Charan English Medium School had been subjecting a seven-year-old minor to sexual exploitation for three years, reports said.

Angry mobs ransacked the school and set fire to old automobile tyres on the road to register their protest and demanded the arrest of the accused school teacher, reports added.

The matter came to fore after the child complained to her parents who in turn lodged an FIR against the accused teacher at the Kakatpur police station.

Police have detained the accused and are interrogating him. The gherao was still on at the time of filing of this report.
