Arif was sent to jail after he was produced before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM)’s Court here by the police on completion of his six-day remand. Police had taken Arif on a six-day remand on April 19 for interrogation in connection with the murders of Dipu and Om.

Though it was expected that police would seek to take Arif on further remand for questioning in connection with the murder of pulses trader Farook, however, no such move was made by the police.

During the six-day remand period, police had taken Arif for questioning to the farmhouse at Khuntakata in Athagarh where Dipu and Om were supposedly murdered. The duo was allegedly bludgeoned to death at this farmhouse on the instructions of the D-brothers.

Twin City Commissionerate police with the help of Tamilnadu police had arrested Arif from Thirumangalam in Madurai. He has several cases against him in at different police stations under the Twin City Commissionerate police.
