Sheep death continues in Odisha’s Niali; locals block road

Niali: Death of sheep in Niali area of Odisha’s Cuttack district continues unabated with fresh reports of three more sheep being killed at Jamugaradi village of Niali block last night.

Demanding compensation, irate locals today blocked Nilai-Phulnakhara road at Kaliaghai Chhak keeping carcasses of the sheep on road.

Vehicular movement on the road was temporarily affected due to the blockade.

Worth mentioning, an 18-member special team from Similipal National Park, headed by Baripada DFO Sanjay Kumar Swain, has arrived here to trace the killer animal/animals, suspected to be a wolf or a pack of wolves locally called rama siyala.

Notably, over 160 sheep have been killed by the unidentified ‘mystery’ animal in Niali area leading to panic among the locals.
