Sheetala Saptami festival is dedicated to Goddess Sheetala or Sheetala Mata. It is observed during the ‘Krishna Paksha Saptami’ in the Hindu month of ‘Chaitra’.

On this day, devotees worship Goddess Sheetala to protect their family members, especially children, from contagious diseases.

Tithi Begins: March 24, 2022 2:16 AM.

Tithi Ends: March 25, 2022 12:10 AM.

Rituals: Goddess Sheetala Devi is worshipped on the day of Sheetala Saptami. Devotees wake up early in the morning and take bath.

They visit Sheetala Mata temples and offer prayers. Various rituals are performed on this day for a peaceful and happy life.

Some devotees also get a ‘mundan’ (shaving of the head) in the honour of Goddess Sheetala.

In some regions, devotees do not prepare food on this day and consume the food prepared on the previous day. Eating hot food is not advised on this day.

Some devotees also observe vrat on this day to please Goddess Sheetala. Women keep this fast for the well-being of her children.
