Shelter home shame: Odisha HC rejects Fayaz’s bail plea

Cuttack: Orissa High Court today rejected the bail plea of Good News India MD Fayaz Rehman in a sexual harassment case at a shelter home.

Along with him, the court also turned down the bail application of Udit Lima, the Assistant Director of the NGO.
Both Fayaz and Udit were arrested in December last year for allegedly exploiting girl inmates at a shelter home run by the Good News India, an NGO, at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal.

Fayaz Rahman, the prime accused in the case, had moved the High Court seeking bail on December 19 following his arrest by the Dhenkanal Sadar Police based on a complaint lodged by the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Anuradha Goswami.

Sources said the shelter home was being operated for the last two years without registration under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
