Shocking! Man hacks wife, hangs self to death in Odisha

Nabarangpur:  In a tragic incident, a 42-year-old man hanged himself to death after allegedly hacking her wife with a sharp weapon over family feud at Kharaparpur village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district today.

The deceased has been identified as Bala Nayak. His wife Surabai Nayak (35) is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Koraput in critical condition.

Locals said the couple, who has a 11-year-old daughter, used to fight frequently over family dispute. Like everyday, the couple went out to work in their farmland this morning. However, a heated argument later ensued between the two, following which Bala attacked his wife with a spade leaving her critically-injured. He later committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree with a towel.

Later, some locals rushed Surabai to the Raighar Community Health Centre (CHC), from where she was shifted to a hospital in Koraput as her condition deteriorated.

Meanwhile, Raighar police station ASI Shankar Majhi rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the incident
