Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, a man under inebriated condition thrashed his elderly mother in front of his house following which she died in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.

The incident took place at Koi village under Kankadahada police limits in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Pohala Dehury.

As per the available information, Pohala tried to intervene and pacify her two sons Bhagban Dehury and Jogendra Dehury, who were quarrelling over some family issues.

Irked over this, Bhagban thrashed his mother with a wooden plan leaving critically injured. Later she was rushed to Kamakhyanagar medical where she succumbed to her injuries.

Following this, Pabitra Dehury, another son of the deceased woman, lodged a police complaint against the accused.

“The accused has been detained and an investigation is underway,” said Subash Chandra Panda, Inspector-In-charge of Kankadahada police station.
