Shocking! Odisha youth kills minor boy for singing during phone conversation

Baripada: Being disturbed during a mobile phone conversation allegedly drove a youth to kill a minor boy at Salachua village under Mahuldiha police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district yesterday as the deceased was singing while the accused was talking on the phone.

According to reports, Samir Nayak alias Bapi (20) and Bijay Nayak (12) of the village were returning home after amusement at nearby Makara Mela.

In the meantime, Samir warned Bijay not to sing during his telephone conversation alleging that he was getting disturbed by the act. However, Bijay continued to sing, following which Samir, in a fit of rage, thrashed him.

After they returned home, Samir began beating Bijay again and pressed the minor boy’s face in a heap of sand. Bijay became unconscious and was admitted to the Ghasipura community health centre, where he was declared dead.

A pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of the body. On the other hand, police have detained the accused for questioning.
