Shree Jagannatha Temple to remain off limits for devotees on Kartika Purnima

Puri/Bhubaneswar: Devotees will not be allowed to pay obeisance to the Holy Trinity of Shree Jagannatha Temple on the occasion of Kartika Purnima this year.

Revising the standard operating procedure (SOP) for devotees, Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar in an order stated the temple will remain closed for darshan on November 19, the day on which Kartika Purnima falls.

The decision has been taken to avoid any spike in transmission of Covid-19 due to possible congregation of people on the day of Karika Purnima, the order mentioned.

However, the SJTA allowed devotees to visit the temple to pay obeisance to the deities from 7AM to 11 PM on November 17 and 18.

“The SOP for the temple will be reviewed periodically and revised instructions will be issued from time to time to further facilitate darshan by devotees and also for management of Covid-19 pandemic,” it added.
