Shree Mandir Jagamohana repair to start from Jan 27

The long awaited repair of the Jagamohana (audience hall) of the Shree Jagannath temple, the 12^th century shrine in Odisha’s holy town Puri will commence from January 27 without relocation of the presiding deities from the Ratnasimhasan (bejeweled throne), informed Suresh Mohapatra, chief administrator Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) here today after the meeting of the temple managing committee.

The repair of the Jagamohana will take about one year. During the repair there will be restrictions on general darhan. Devotees will be allowed to have darshan of the Lords from near the bahara katha.

Earlier, at the Chhattisha Nijog (federal body of servitor bodies) meeting it was agreed upon to start repair of the Jagamohana from January 27.

The Shree Mandir Managing Committee with Puri king Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singh Deb in the chair held a meeting on the Jagamohana repair issue at the SJTA office today.

The temple administration has formed two committees for proper coordination to complete Jagamohana repair within the limited time period.

While one committee will monitor and coordinate smooth conduct of temple rituals, the other which is a technical committee will monitor repair work. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will assist in the repair work. The Works department has prepared a blueprint for erection of a riser platform for the repair work, said SJTA sources.
