Shutdown announced in one more district in Odisha

Rayagada: After a sudden spike in COVID-19 positive cases, Rayagada district administration today declared a seven-day shutdown in the entire district.

The shutdown with effect from tomorrow will remain in force till July 29.

The administration declared the shutdown to curb spread of the deadly virus after 96 new cases were reported from the district in the last 24 hours. Active surveillance and contact tracing will be carried out in the district during the period, said the administartion.

All shops, commercial establishments  and Government and private organisations  will remain  closed while both private and public transport will be suspended during the period. However, essential services like hospitals and medicine shops, movement of goods carriers and other economic activities will continue to operate.

The district has total 338 positive cases, including 197 active cases. While  139 patients have recovered from the disease, two patients succumbed to the virus.
