Shutdown declared in this Odisha panchayat as Covid cases rise

Nabarangpur: As the number of Covid positive cases are rising every passing day, the Sarpanch of Chandahandi Sadar panchayat today imposed shutdown in the area from April 21, 2021.

After another 12 villagers from Sandhimunda village bordering Chhattisgarh State and 11 persons from the Chandahandi hospital tested Covid positive, Sarpanch Lachhman Majhi declared the shutdown in Sadar panchayat from April 21, 2021 to April 28, 2021.

Till date, Chandahandi block reported more than 350 Covid patients.

Meanwhile, the local police team led by IIC Paramananda Sunani sealed the border with Chhattisgarh State and has been strictly implementing Covid restrictions.

A local said as Chandahandi block, a recent hotspot in Nabarangpur district, is located around 150 kms away from a Covid hospital, the district administration should send here a team of special doctors. Also, a temporary Covid centre should be established in the area.

The local administration should also ensure that Covid patients stay at home isolation and refrain from roaming unobstructed.

The local added a special task force must be constituted to ensure better Covid management.
