New Delhi, Apr 22:

The Supreme Court has appointed senior lawyer Shyam Divan as the amicus curiae in the PIL on the chit fund scam in Odisha, sources said.

The apex court had earlier asked the petitioner Alok Jena to submit the names of three lawyers, one of whom can act as the amicus curiae in the case after the latter chose to part company with his advocate SC Tripathy on April 9.

Accordingly, Jena had submitted three names including that of Shyam Divan to the court.

The court on Monday selected Divan as the amicus curiae in the PIL case.

The next date of hearing in the chit fund case is on April 23.
