Similipal to reopen for tourists on Oct 14; Know details about entry timing, tickets

Bhubaneswar: Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will be reopened for tourists on October 14.

The national park had been closed for visitors ahead of the arrival of monsoon in Odisha.

“Similipal National Park would be reopened for visitors on October 14. A total of 60 vehicles carrying tourists would be allowed to enter the national park in a day. Altogether 35 vehicles will be allowed to enter Similipal through Jashipur-Kaliani gate while the remaining 25 can enter through Pithabata gate. It is mandatory that each vehicle would be accompanied by a guide,” said Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF) Prakash Chandra Gogineni.

The tourists can collect the entry tickets from Kaliani and Pithabata counters from 6 am to 9 am. “The tourists will have to leave Jaranda and Barehipani waterfalls by 3 pm. Besides, they have to conclude their trip to the national park by 5 pm,” said Gogineni.

Notably, the authorities usually close the national park for tourists on June 16 every year ahead of the arrival of monsoon in Odisha and reopen the same on November 1.

This year, the authorities have decided to reopen the national park around 15 days ahead of the schedule, sources said.
