Sindhekela IIC, arrested for taking bribe, suspended

Balangir: Odisha DGP suspended Sindhekela IIC Alok Behera, who was arrested by the Vigilance for taking Rs 25,000 bribe.

The corrupt police official was caught red handed while he was accepting bribe from a bank employee to show him undue favours in a case.

According to reports, Behera had demanded Rs 25,000 from banker Ajit Kumar Ghadei to exclude the latter from the chargesheet of a case, registered at the Sindhekela Police Station in Balangir district in 2020.

Based on a complaint by Ghadei with the Vigilance, the officials of anti-corruption department laid a trap and caught the Sindhekela IIC while taking the bribe amount.

Following his arrest, the Vigilance sleuths raided his office, official residence on the premises of Sindhekela PS and his parental house at Olatpur area in Cuttack simultaneously to unearth unaccounted wealth accumulated by him.
