Singer Arijit Singh’s mother succumbs to COVID-19

Bhubaneswar/Kolkata: Indian playback singer Arijit Singh’s mother today succumbed to COVID-19 in a hospital in Kolkata, after her conditions turned critical.

The 34-year-old singer’s mother was undergoing treatment at AMRI, Dhakuria and was put on ECMO support as her condition worsened. She breathed her last today at around 11 am.

Earlier, actress Swastika Mukherjee and filmmaker Srijit Mukherji took to their social media profiles and informed about Arijit’s mother being hospitalized. They had also appealed netizens to arrange for some A -ve blood for the singer’s mother.

On May 6, Arijit took to his Facebook Profile and wrote, “It is my humble request to those who are trying to help me at this hour, Please Do not overdo things just because you see a name called Arijit Singh.

Until we learn to respect each individual, we are not going to elevate ourselves from this disaster.

I am thankful to people who reached out and helped but please remember we are all human beings. Every individual is priority.”

Later, on May 11, the singer posted another message for his followers, requesting them to be safe. The note was written in three languages- Hindi, Bengali and English.
