RSP sets new record in single day hot metal production

With the new state-of-the-art Blast Furnace-V of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) coming to stream, the steel plant achieved a record production of 9020 tons of Hot Metal on October 20, RSP sources said adding, 4267 tons of the output came from the new blast furnace’Durga’.

The Sinter units matched the performance by producing 15,988 tonnes of sinter, which is again the best ever performance for any single day. The new Sinter Unit No. 3 played a vital role in this achievement by producing 6187 Tonnes of Sinter,an RSP release said.

“Another new Unit that is doing exceedingly well is the Coke Ovens Battery No. 6. The unit is consistently improving its performance and clocking an average daily pushing of more than its target that is 65. Sometimes the daily pushing is surpassing even 80”, the release claimed.

GS Prasad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RSP has expressed his happiness over the superb achievement and congratulated the employees for their commitment to quickly stabilize the new units that have come up under the modernization and expansion.
