Single-use plastic worth Rs 50 lakh seized in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Special Squad of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today seized a huge cache of banned single-use plastic worth Rs 50 lakh from the house of a person in Saheed Nagar area of Odisha capital.

Acting on a tip-off about the banned items being stored inside a godown on the premises of the house, the squad raided the spot and informed the officials of the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) after the seizure.

The plastic items were reportedly bought from Kolkata and Gujarat, and supplied to various eateries in the city.

Worth mentioning, the Odisha Government had on October 2 banned single-use plastic in all urban areas of the state.
