Bhubaneswar: The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), under the guidance of Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, today gave its nod to eight transformative projects worth Rs 1,397.18 crore.

The clearance will further strengthen Odisha’s position as an investment destination, said an official.

The SLSWCA, at its 124th meeting, approved eight projects in plastic, textile, metal, IT and agro industry sectors. The new industrial projects will come up in six districts of the state.

In the plastic sector, Sintex BAPL Limited is committed to invest Rs 479.47 crore for establishing a manufacturing unit for CPVC, UPVC, SWR, Agri Pipes, PVC fittings and Plastic tanks with annual capacity of 37,520 MT in Sambalpur. The project is likely to create employment opportunities for 1,000 people.

Similarly, HIL India is committed to invest Rs 250 crore to set up PVC and CPVC pipes manufacturing units in the state. The projects will generate employment for 275 people, said the official.

Mega Flex Plastics Ltd has planned to set up a manufacturing unit for plastic containers, leno bag, PP woven bags, PP woven fabrics and corrugated box with annual capacity of 9,600 MT in Khordha. The company will invest 62.38 crore on the project, which is likely to create jobs for 382 people.

The steel sector will witness significant growth as Sandhu Tubes Private Limited and KAI Steel Private Limited have planned to invest Rs 188.98 crore to set up their units in Jajpur and Sundargarh districts. The projects will will generate employment for more than 403 people.

Hindalco Industries Ltd has agreed to invest Rs 241.05 crores in the aluminum sector by establishing a white fused alumina manufacturing unit in Sambalpur. The project is expected to create job opportunities for 210 individuals.

In the IT sector, Anuj Autograph Business Park will set up an IT Park in Khordha with an investment of Rs 105.3 crore. At least 300 people will get employment opportunities at the project.

In the agro-industry sector, GGL Chalet Pvt. Limited has planned to Invest Rs 70 crore to build a manufacturing unit for veneer (2,50,00,000 SQM per annum), ply board and particle board (5,00,000 SQM per annum) and biomass pellet (10,00,000 MTPA) in Koraput. The combined employment generation potential of these projects is around 290, said the official.
