Sita Navami, also known as ‘Sita Jayanti’ or ‘Janaki Navami’, is an observance dedicated to Goddess Sita. It is celebrated as the birthday of Devi Sita.

It falls on Shukla Paksha Navami tithi in the lunar month of ‘Vaishaka’ as per the Hindu calendar.

Sita Navami 2022 Date: May 10, Tuesday.

Navami Tithi Starts: May 09, 2022 6:32 PM.

Navami Tithi Ends: May 10, 2022 7:25 PM.

Sita Navami Puja Muhurat: May 10, 11:05 AM – May 10, 1:41 PM.

Rituals: Devotees especially married women worship Devi Sita and Lord Ram on this day.

As Goddess Sita emerged from a ploughed land, Earth is also worshipped on this day. Devotees offer sesame seeds, rice, barley and fruits during puja.

‘Bhog’ is prepared for the occasion and is distributed as prasad after completion of aarti.

Women observe fasting on this day known as Sita Navami Vrat.

Recitals of Ramayana, followed by bhajan programs are held at various temples on this day.
