Six artistes from Odisha to receive Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards

Bhubaneswar: As many as six artistes from Odisha will receive the prestigious Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the years 2022 and 2023.

Renowned vocalist and scholar Sangita Gosain will be honoured for her significant contributions to Odissi music in 2023.

Snehaprava Samantaray, a former lecturer at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, will receive the Akademi Award for her excellence in Odissi dance for the same year.

Debasish Pattnaik will be awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar-2023 for his promising achievements in Odissi dance as a young artist. Similarly, Alok Bishoyi, a talented folk dancer and musician, will also be honoured with the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2023.

In the category of Odissi dance, Niranjan Rout, a revered guru, has been selected for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2022. Arupa Gayatri Panda has been chosen to receive the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2022 in the category of dance for Odissi.

Recipients of the award receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a ‘tamrapatra’ and ‘angavastram’.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi fellowships and awards will be presented by the President of India during a special investiture ceremony.
