Six held for gambling, running illegal liquor den in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate of Police today arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in gambling, running illegal liquor den and brandishing firearm in Nayapalli area of Odisha Capital following a raid on a house in Saliasahi.

Acting on reliable information, Nayapalli Police Station personnel conducted a raid at the house of one Salu Patra Reddy in Saliasahi. During the raid around 15 to 20 people were present at the house of Salu Patra Reddy and gambling by staking money. Salu Patra obstructed the police team, caused assault and exhibited a fire arm, a police official said.

Later the police apprehended five persons apart from Salu Patra while gambling and detected a large number of IMFL in the same premises.

One country made black Revolver, cash of Rs 17,500, five bundles of playing cards, six mobile phones, 22 bottles of beer and liquor, 11 motorcycles and one Maruti Swift D zire Car from the possessions of the accused.

The accused were Salu Patra Reddy, Siba Sethi, Guru Murty Sahoo, Basant Kumar Sahoo, Krishna Reddy and Ratnakar Sethi.

After registering a case under different sections of OPG Act, OE act and Arms Act, the Commissionerate of Police is investigating the matter, the police official added.
