Six hospitals to come up in Odisha capital under PPP mode

The Odisha government’s Empowered Committee on Infrastructure today decided to open six hospitals under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the state capital.

While Rs 424 crore will be spent on this account, these hospitals will have combined bed strength of 800, informed an official.

Out of the 800 beds, 359 will be reserved for patients with BPL cards.

“A proposal for a tertiary care hospital and five secondary care hospitals of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the Integrated Healthcare Project was approved in the meeting,” revealed Pradeep Jena, IT Secretary to reporters after the Committee’s meeting.

Similarly, it was decided at the Committee’s meeting to build 1,300 EWS houses in Shantipalli slum area of Bhubaneswar for slum dwellers and people from the economically weaker sections.

“This project has been planned around Shantipalli, one of the biggest slums. Under the project the developer will construct 1,300 EWS houses and hand it over to Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). We will allocate these houses to slum dwellers residing in that area,” said Krishan Kumar, BMC Commissioner.

The Committee in its meeting chaired by the state Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi decided to set up rice storage godowns under PPP mode in 23 places in the state.

“A proposal of the Food and Civil Supplies department to set up rice storage godowns under PPP mode in 23 places was approved,” informed Jena.

Besides, the Committee also decided to operate town bus service in Balasore town.
