Two killed in Odisha after clash over Dola procession

Two persons were killed and at least four others were injured in a group clash between two villages under Mahanga police limits in Cuttack district of Odisha over religious procession.

According to reports, two persons succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Earlier in the day, a heated argument ensued between villagers from Pasulunda and Gangapura villages this afternoon over passage of Dola Bimana (decorated palanquin) as part of the Dola Jatra celebrations.

Later, the argument turned ugly leading to a group clash which left at least six injured from the two villages. Of the injured, four were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where their condition is stated to be critical.

Although police have started probe into the incident, palpable tension prevailed in the area.
