Six students suspended over clash in Odisha’s Ravenshaw Varsity

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, Mar 4:

Six students of Ravenshaw University were suspended and 10 students were warned for their alleged involvement in clash between two hostels in the varsity premises.

The University authority suspended three students from appearing four semesters and another three for two semester examinations.

They were allegedly involved in the clash between New Hostel and Lalitgiri Hostel of the varsity on November 21, 2016.

“Political parties’ intervention is the chief reason that intensifies tension at the premises”, said Ravenshaw Vice Chancellor Prakash Sarangi, adding that 99% students focus on building lucrative career while 1% indulged in clashes in the university.

“The political parties are motivating the students by spending money. The tension will prevail in the campus till the university is not free from politics”, he said.

The action will be taken against the students as per the law, Sarangi added.
