Six-year-old girl chews live firecracker in Odisha’s Keonjhar, critical

Anandapur: A minor girl aged around six years became critically injured as she chewed a live firecracker today while playing with it at Duarasuni under Mahuladiha police limits in Keonjhar district.

The injured minor has been identified as the daughter of Pakan Kududa from the village.

According to a source, the minor girl was playing along with some of her friends near her house when the fatal mishap occurred. She found a live firecracker lying nearby on the ground and she picked it up out of curiosity. All of a sudden, the girl put the firecracker into her mouth and chewed it.

As ill luck could have it, the live firecracker blasted leaving the girl child critically injured.

The minor was rescued by some locals and was immediately taken by an ambulance vehicle in critical condition. She was admitted to the sub-divisional hospital (SDH) in Anandapur for treatment. After receiving primary medical treatment, the girl child was shifted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Postgraduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan) in Cuttack after her health condition deteriorated.
