Slot booking for COVID vaccination of people above 18 yrs begins in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar:  As the first consignment of Covaxin for third phase COVID-19 vaccination arrived in Odisha yesterday,  slot allotment of the beneficiaries for the drive has commenced in the state capital, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chaudhary today.

The vaccination that was scheduled to begin today will commence from May 3 in the state capital, People aged between 18 and 44 years can book their slots on CoWIN portal to get the jab, he added.

Regarding availability of beds, the official informed that total 3553 beds including 531 ICU and 836 HDU are currently there in Bhubaneswar. Around 90 % ICU beds and 50 % HDU beds have been occupied.

Around 85 % patients are in Bhubaneswar are currently under on home isolation. Rapid Response Teams are keeping a track of their health status, he added urging the public to get themselves tested if they develop any symptoms.

“We have shared details of all COVID testing centres in Bhubaneswar. Please come forward and get the test done if there is any symptoms,” the Commissioner stressed.
