Sambalpur: A group of engineering students of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla added another feather to the cap by securing a place in Limca Book of Records for developing a Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV).

With the development of a SLV, the engineering undergraduates set a milestone in the space technology.

The SLV also called as VSLV indigenously developed and designed by Idea and Innovation Cell VSSUT students entered the Limca Book of Records following a series of tests.

The record states that the VSSUT is the first and only student body in India of engineering undergraduates that indigenously developed the SLV and launched the vehicle, said VSSUT Cell in a release.

A special team of Limca Book of Record selected the SLV after six-month verification and testing process.

The SLV will find place towards end of this year in 2019 edition of Limca Book of Record.

Notably, the SLV has been successfully tested thrice in the past. The rocket VSLV 1.0 was fired on August 22, 2017, VSLV 2.0 on January 1, 2018 and VSLV 3.0 on March 30, 2018 with the range upto 3,000 ft, 5,200 ft and 12,800 ft respectively.
