Snake rescuer critical after being bitten by cobra in Odisha’s Balasore

Bhubaneswar: A snake rescuer has been hospitalised in a critical condition after he was bitten by a cobra in Balasore district of Odisha today.

Bikram Jena, an official of Jaleswar block in Balasore, spotted an Indian Cobra in his quarters in the morning.

On being informed, snake rescuer Shankar Chand rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the cobra.

The poisonous snake reportedly bit Chand while he was trying to put it into a bag, sources said.

Chand was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the locality in a critical condition. Later, he was shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after his condition deteriorated, sources added.
