Snake venom worth Rs 1.3 crore seized in Odisha capital; 3 arrested

Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, forest officials busted a snake venom racket here and arrested three persons from Unit-6 area here in this connection today.

The police seized two bottles containing 1.3 litre venom worth over Rs 1.30 crore from the possession from the three accused. Two of the accused belong to Balangir and another is a resident of Balasore district.

The cops also detained seven to eight more persons, including a woman, from Master Canteen area here for interrogation in this connection.

Sources said the value of the venom in international market is estimated to be Rs 13 crore. Last in 2013, similar racket was busted in the state capital.
