Snakebite claims minor boy, sister critical in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Rourkela: In a tragic mishap, a minor boy died while his sister is critical after they were bitten by a venomous snake in Bonai block of Odisha’s Sundagarh district on Wednesday night.

The deceased boy was identified as Sandeep Oram (4). His sister Alisha Oram (12) is critical and undergoing treatment. The sibling duo hailed from Katuridhua village within Bonai police limits.

As per reports, the two children were sleeping at their house when they were bitten by a poisonous snake. On hearing their screams, parents and neighbours woke up. Spotting the snake, they rushed the sibling duo to the hospital but the minor boy succumbed.

Doctors said the exact cause of death ill be established once the postmortem report arrives. A pall of death descended on the village as the news of the incident spread.
