Snana Jatra: For the first time, devotees to be allowed on Snana Bedi for darshan in Puri

Puri: For the first time, devotees will be allowed on Snana Bedi (bathing altar) of Srimandir here to have darshan of Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings on the auspicious occasion of  Deba Snana Purnima, a bathing ritual of the deities, this year.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) announced this following a meeting with Daitapati Nijog servitors today.

After a gap of two years, Snana Jatra this year will be held this year with public participation. Devotees will be able to have Drashan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Lord Sudarshan and Devi Subhadra, from the path below the bathing altar, informed SJTA official Durga Dash Mohapatra.

“Devotees will be very happy to know that for the the first time, they will be allowed atop the bathing altar to see pay  obeisance to the deities for two hours after Hati Besha. However, they cannot touch the deities,” Mohapatra said.

While there will be Parimanik (paid) darshan during Pahandi of the deities to Snana Bedi, devotees will not be charged for darshan on Snana Mandap, he added.

On Ratha Jatra, the official said SJTA is considering to hold the annual car festival this year in presence of devotees, if COVID situation continues to remain under control.
