SOA University MBA Program inaugurated; Chief Guest Dr. Tapan Chand calls for increased academia-business interaction

Bhubaneswar: SOA University in Bhubaneswar, one of the reputed universities of India, has organised freshers Induction Program MBA and MBA-HA on 17th October, 2022 in the presence of galaxy of Top Personalities in different fields.

The varsity’s Convention Hall was full with fresher MBA and MBA-HA students bubbling with enthusiasm and expectations. The program started with welcome address by Professor AK Samantray, Dean IBCS and faculty of Management Science.

SOA University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mohapatra presided over the ceremony. In his presidential address, he advised the students to pursue the Management Course with sincerity and devotion. Sashi Bhusan Upadhyay, Resident Director, Jindal Stainless Limited emphasised on Case Study approach in Management Programs and also added that eminent Industry Professionals like Chand have shown that hands-on management brings turnaround and establishes business leadership.

Prasanna Pradhan, Director, Biju Patnaik International Airport told the students to develop leadership. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, AGM of SBI presented National and International Economic Environment and informed that demand for MBA students have been increasing.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Tapan Chand called upon the management of SOA University to organize more of Academia-Business Interactions and also to introduce overseas student exchange programs for better exposure. Referring to the first ever global survey on diversity made by GMAT Council, Dr. Chand told that India is in the first two top nations in the world, next to China, in terms of the number of Management degree holders.

Number of Women Management degree holders is more in India. This will help in increasing diversity in the organisation. Dr. Chand said that Vedanta is having more than 23 per cent diversity in its manpower and is aiming to increase it to 30 per cent.

Popularity of MBA programs among the students and business organisations is significantly on rise. The fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is likely to be favourable for MBA professionals as their innovation and entrepreneurship will be in demand from the ecosystem.

Dr. Chand advised students to avail the opportunities in MBA program and develop business-fit attitude with necessary skill and knowledge.
